Culliford Tree Barrow and the South Dorset Ridgeway
High up on the South Dorset Ridgeway near Widcombe is the Culliford Tree Barrow, a Neolithic tomb covered in trees (planted in the 1700s).
Following along the leads you to fantastic views of the bay looking down on Bowleaze, Weymouth and Portland.
“The Culliford Tree barrow, formerly the meeting place of the Hundred of Culllingford Tree, is also known as the Music Barrow from the belief that music could be heard beneath the mound by those who listened at the apex at midday.”
— Grinsell (1959)
